Etsy Feature: Lovely Nest Designs

This weeks feature is from a lovely shop called Lovely Nest Designs. She is awesome and have an awesome shop. She's a teammate from Team Discovery so Check it out!!!

 1. Tell us a little about yourself
I am a full time mom of 2 girls, a wife and I just turned 30! (eeekk!) I love Jesus, all things vintage, thrifting and doing anything creative...well, except painting and drawing... I am totally inept in those areas! I didn't find my passion for sewing until after I had my first daughter. I mean, I knew how to sew and enjoyed it, but I didn't fall IN LOVE until after she came. My motto now is "The more I sew, the more like ME I feel..." and, can we just keep it real…. it's cheaper than therapy!!!

2. Describe your shop in a few words:
Green, Eco Friendly, Eclectic, One of a kind, fun, funky and unique.

3. Is there a story behind your shop?
I LOVE seeing the diamond in the rough. Taking something that someone else has deemed invaluable and reinventing it just gigs me out with excitement! One day my oldest and I were exploring in the yard. We came upon a bird's nest that was just beautiful. It was interwoven not only with sticks, twigs and moss, but also with bits of ribbon, string, a little fluff that looked like it had come from a stuffed animal, part of a shoe lace etc....The nest was made up of all these little things that others had discarded, and turned into something so gorgeous! I thought to myself…”this is what I do!!!” so, right then the name of the shop was born... Lovely Nest Designs.
I dealt with a lot of fear in opening a shop and putting myself out there, but after much encouragement and prayer, I decided to go for it as a way to bless others, and cultivate my passion!

4. What is your creative process like?
Hummm, let’s see. Well, the process always starts with a trip to the thrift outlet in the area. This is the place where everything that did not sell at the thrift store goes before it is recycled or tossed for good. I love digging through the bins of stuff and finding that one thing that inspires me. It could be a vintage bed sheet, table cloth, a shirt or skirt with a hole in it somewhere… I just never know what is going to inspire me. I usually look at the item for the fabric instead of its current function. I then take what I have found home and play around with it to see what I come up with. When it comes to kids clothes, I love making things that aren’t too kid-like. I like for my kids to wear things that I might wear…! Sometimes I use the fabric for appliqués, sometimes I use the fabric to make skirts or dresses for the girls… But once I am in ‘the zone’ I can create things all day…! (Well, that is, until I have to pick up the kids from preschool…)

5. What makes your shop unique?
Everything in my shop is made from 99% recycled materials. Even the shirts that I use for appliqués are not purchased in bulk or wholesale. I make one of a kind items; there are no 2 things that are exactly alike. If a customer needs something similar in a different size, I can usually accommodate, but it will never be exactly like something I have made in the past. I have found that customers really appreciate the uniqueness (is that a word???) of the item they are purchasing.

6. Which item in your shop is your favorite?
I think I have 2 favorites!
This little guy is one my favorite items… I love the appliqué which came from vintage curtains, and I love the bold colors and stripe of the tee! It’s just such a happy shirt!

I just love owls and love all the pieces of fabric that make up this one!

Etsy Feature: Sevilyadesign

This week's feature is an awesome shop that is also part of Team Discovery. Check out Sevilyadesign

1)Describe yourself and shop in a few sentences.
I was born in Israel in 1963. For many years, I was on a personal journey to find my way as an artist in my community. When I created my first Paper Mache sculpture, I fell in love immediately. The entire creative process, starting with old junk, news papers and glue fascinated me. I developed a way to include more materials like cardboard and metals into the mix. As an artist, every aspect of creating art interests me and fills me with energy, but nothing makes me feel more whole and at peace than my Paper Mache creations. The creatures come alive in front of your eyes.  They are the ones in control. In Avi Sevilya’s studio we believe in the natural beauty of paper, in its’ texture and elasticity which leads our way of work, our motto is “ Life provides us with constant changes that leads to blessed changes…”

2)How did the shop start?
I opened this shop because I was looking to expose my works of art. I was looking for an audience who love art and design. I found it in Etsy.

3)What inspires you?
Because my character I was constantly changing, my inspiration comes from nature and the environment next to me at that time.

4)What is your favorite item from your shop?
My favorite item in my shop is the "Gray Shell" .

5)Apart from Etsy what do you dedicate to?
I am dedicate to disabled children. I am Working with disabled children in hospitals. Following this I developed The "Dream Bike" a Bicycle with an integrated IV stand . Today, The Dream Bike is making sick children smile in hospitals throughout Israel and in the United States. The children welcome their new friends with joy and laughter. http://www.kideaze.net/

6)Tell us a little about what you have planned for your shop in the future.
We plan for the future to continue develop the design with a paper.

My Personal Favorite from this shop has to be this one!

Didn't you love this shop?! I Love it! So full of creative and unique things.

Etsy Feature: Pink Limed

Hello everyone! Today's feature is this awesome shop that sells  magnets, jewelry, ornaments and more! And everything's so cute! Check out a little more about her.

1)Tell us a bit about yourself.
Hello there! My name is Britt, I'm a full-time college student from central Massachusetts. I'm sort of stuck in between majors right now; I keep debating between Graphic Design and Studio Art. Whichever I don't choose will become my minor, so, no matter what, I'm doing what I love.

2)How was Pink Limed created?
Pink Limed was created on November 16, 2009. I was just about to finish my first semester and when I wanted to chill out, I would make clay items and paint unfinished boxes. A friend suggested I look into Etsy, as I had just closed my store I'd had on another well known selling website. I fell in love, and I've been here since!
(Happy 1 year Etsy-versary!!!)

3)How did you came up with the name?
It's a really anti-climatic story, really! I came up the name when I opened my first shop. I was fourteen at the time and pink and green was my favorite color combination. It just stuck! The 'd' in Limed was added when I joined Etsy. I thought it was funny because it sounded like a verb, so when you buy from me, you've been Pink Limed. ;D

4)What makes your shop unique?
My shop is unique because I have so many different things, and I adore doing custom items. I refuse to list anything I personally wouldn't buy, so it's full of unique and fun items you couldn't find anywhere else. I don't know how many other stores you could find a custom ornament next to a box painted with sushi!

5)What’s your favorite item from your shop?
That's so hard to pick! Currently, I really love the Christmas Pickle Ornament. He absolutely cracks me up every time I look at him and they are so fun to make!

6)Any new ideas for your shop in the future?
I'm always trying to do something new. I'm hoping to start making charms for necklaces and perhaps doing some resin jewelry. Who knows what the future holds!

7) Contact Information: You can, of course, find me at Pink Limed on etsy, pinklimed.etsy.com. You can also send me an e-mail at pinklimed@gmail.com or visit me on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/PinkLimed

So cute isn't it?!
My personal favorite from this shop has to be this awesome ring!

So everyone now go xmas shopping! :D
